NOTE: All of the parts supplied in this issue will not be needed in the assembly steps here. Store them safely until we need them in a later issue.

Fitting the First Pipe

Steps 01-02

Retrieve your Starboard Wall and Technical Station Fittings sprue from the previous issue. Carefully cut and prepare the two Pipes from the sprue, as shown.

If you want to see how I cut and sand plastic parts from sprues, check out Issue 07:

Step 03

Test fit (do not glue) the hole in the small ‘J’ Pipe onto the pin at the end of the long Pipe, as shown:

Step 04

The two ends of this Pipe assembly can then be identified as ‘A’ and ‘B’, as shown:

Step 05

Retrieve your Hold Starboard Wall assembly from the previous issue. Push the ‘A’ end of the longer Pipe into this specific opening of the Hold Door Liner (Outer), orienting it as shown:

Fit and glue the small ‘J’ Pipe onto the pin of the long Pipe, orienting it as shown:

Our completed Pipe assembly should look like this:

Completing the Pipework

Steps 01-04

Retrieve your Cushions and Hold Details sprue from the previous issue. Carefully cut and prepare Pipes #1 and #2 from the sprue.

The Pipe parts of this sprue that we will be using in this issue are numbered below:

After removing Pipe #1 and Pipe #2, note how the pin and hole are fitted in the same way as the first Pipe assembly and can be referred to by the ends ‘A’ and ‘B’ as shown:

Step 05

As before, push the ‘A’ end of the longer Pipe #1 into this specific opening of the Hold Door Liner (Outer), orienting it as shown:

Step 06

Fit and glue the small ‘J’ Pipe #2 onto the pin of the long Pipe #1, orienting it as shown:

Steps 07-09

Carefully cut and prepare Pipe #3 from the sprue. Glue the curved end of this Pipe into this hole of the Hold Starboard Wall:

The straight end of this Pipe #3 should follow along the shape of the Hold Door and point straight towards the floor, as shown.

It is recommended not to apply glue anywhere else along this Pipe as it will need some adjustment later on:

Steps 10-11

Carefully cut and prepare Pipe #4 from the sprue. Test fit this Pipe next to the previous one as shown. When you understand how it fits, glue the top end of this Pipe to the Hold Starboard Wall (arrow below).

Again, it is recommended not to apply glue anywhere else along this Pipe as it will need some adjustment later on:

Steps 12-14

Carefully cut and prepare Pipe #5 from the sprue. Test fit and then glue the pin of this Pipe into the hole of this Instrument Panel. The rest of the Pipe should be glued to the Hold Wall as shown:

Hold Assembly

Steps 01-02

Retrieve your Main Hold Floor assembly from Issue 08. Note how the three dovetail tabs of the Hold Starboard Wall line up to these matching slots in the Hold Floor:

Step 03

Press these dovetail tabs down into the matching slots, as shown.

I temporarily removed my Lounge Seating Support assembly so you could see how these parts fit together:

Step 04

Make sure the straight ends of Pipe #4 and Pipe #5 fit into this opening in the Main Hold Floor, as shown.

This is why we only glued the top ends of these two Pipes in place – they may need some adjustment to align with the opening:

That step completes this issue, but just for fun, I installed the Technical Station and the other Hold Walls we have received to see how it is going to look:

Thoughts

For what it’s worth, I think our Main Hold section is looking really good so far! We will do a bit of Hull Frame work in the next issue, so this Hold assembly can be stored for now.
