Build

NOTE: The Hull Frame, Radial Stiffening Rib, Port Corridor Floor, Hull Plating, and screws will not be needed in these assembly steps and can safely stored until the next set of issues arrive:

The Assembly Jig and Non-Slip Pads will not be needed in these assembly steps either. However, to keep us from possibly losing the Non-Slip Pads, we can install them now. Simply peel the backing paper off and stick them into the matching circular recesses, as shown. I also marked this Jig section with the issue number – I am not sure if it matters but it can’t hurt. Then, this assembly can be stored safely until we need it in a later issue:

Assembling the Access Tunnel

Step 01

Retrieve your four Gun Turret Access wall assemblies from the previous issue. Press the two lower dovetail tabs of the Rear Outer Panel into the matching slots of the Access Floor, as shown.

For clarification, these are the top surfaces of the Access Ceiling and Access Floor parts:

Step 02

Next, fit the lower tabs of the Gun Turret Access (Rear Inner Panel) into these slots of the Access Floor, as shown:

Step 03

Then, fit the lower tabs of the Gun Turret Access (Forward Outer Panel) into these slots of the Access Floor, as shown:

Step 04

Finally, fit the lower tabs of the Gun Turret Access (Forward Inner Panel) into these slots of the Access Floor, as shown:

Step 05

Complete the access tunnel by fitting the Access Ceiling onto the upper tabs of all four panels, as shown:

Once I understood how all these parts fit together, I disassembled them to continue the paintwork of my grungy interior theme. In this case, I dirtied up the walls and floor of this Gun Turret Access in the same way as before using my Vallejo Game Wash 73.201 Black and Vallejo Game Wash 73.200 Sepia. I aimed to make it more weathered towards the corridor end, as shown:

If you are curious as to where this section of the ship will be located, I temporarily fit it into the proper place on the curved Corridor:

Thoughts

With this Gun Turret Access assembly, I feel we are very close to the completing the interior sections of our Millennium Falcon. We do still have to build the gun ports, but I think the majority of the remaining model will be focused on the exterior. Keep this assembly safe for now as it will not be installed for a long time.

    1. Obviously, it is out of stock. Depending on if they have to make more, it can take months to replace items. I have been still receiving other parts, which is fine by me. I am in no rush.
